There is provided a method of interpolating wave signals, particularly seismic signals acquired through a seismic survey, using the steps of obtaining time series of measured wave signals; and selecting iteratively basis functions to represent said measured signals with a basis function being fully defined by n parameters, wherein in each iteration one or more basis functions are combined with the selected basis functions such that the residual between the measured signals and a representation of the measured signal by the combined basis functions is minimized at the locations of the measurement at each iteration.

L'invention porte sur un procédé d'interpolation de signaux d'onde, en particulier de signaux sismiques acquis par un relevé sismique, à l'aide des étapes consistant à obtenir une série temporelle de signaux d'onde mesurés; et à sélectionner des fonctions de base itératives pour représenter lesdits signaux mesurés avec une fonction de base qui est entièrement définie par n paramètres. Selon l'invention, à chaque itération, une ou plusieurs fonctions de base sont combinées avec les fonctions de base sélectionnées de telle sorte que le résidu entre les signaux mesurés et une représentation du signal mesuré par les fonctions de base combinées est rendu minimal au niveau des emplacements de la mesure à chaque itération.
