ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Method for retreading a tyre in which an annular rubber tread portion is applied to a retread region of the tyre with a vulcanizable binding rubber layer between the tyre carcass and the rubber tread portion, and annular vulcanizable rubber inserts are applied continuously around the annular tread portion at the sides of the binding rubber layer to bend up the tread edges and to provide a sealed area between the carcass, the binding rubber layer and the applied tread portion. Thereafter the sealed area is evacuated by inserting a suction needle through the rubber inserts or the binding rubber layer at one or several points over the retread region so as to remove air or other gas or vapour from the retread region, the needle is removed and the punctures opening is sealed off. Finally the retread region is heated to vulcanize the binding rubber layer and rubber inserts to bond the tread portion to the carcass.
