ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In the manufacture of filled tube rods the ends of the rods are sealed with a solid organic film volatilizable at welding temperature to provide a contaminant free weldment. The organic film is preferably a sealant composition containing pyroxylin (nitrocellulose), ether, and absolute alcohol as principal ingredients, and dried by very rapid means, i.e., infrared heating.
