The method is disclosed to determine the proximity of a user for allowing user access to an electronic device. The method includes transmission data in a plurality of signals at different frequencies to establish communication between a first electronic device and a second electronic device (100). The method further includes detecting the plurality of signals at the different frequencies with the first electronic device (102). The method is characterized by determining an overall signal strength from a predetermined number of measured signal strengths and comparing the overall signal strength to a predetermined threshold for enabling the second electronic device in response to the overall signal strength being above the predetermined threshold (106).

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de déterminer la proximité d'un utilisateur afin de lui faciliter l'accès à un dispositif électronique. Le procédé consiste à émettre des données dans une pluralité de signaux à différentes fréquences en vue d'établir la communication entre un premier et un second dispositifs électroniques (100). Le procédé consiste en outre à détecter la pluralité de signaux aux différentes fréquences avec le premier dispositif électronique (102). Le procédé se caractérise en ce qu'il permet de déterminer l'intensité globale du signal à partir d'un nombre prédéterminé d'intensités de signaux mesurées et de comparer l'intensité globale du signal à un seuil prédéterminé de façon à activer le second dispositif électronique en réponse à l'intensité globale du signal au-dessus du seuil prédéterminé (106).
