The invention relates to a method, which is performed by a piece of equipment (1, 2) having access to one or more packet transmission networks (3, 4), of selecting and sorting packets concerning said equipment from the set of packets provided by the networks, said packets respecting at least two protocol layers or more. The inventive method comprises a selection and sorting process which, for address matching searches, employs two address directories successively. The first of said directories, or the lower level directory, comprises for elements the different possible combinations of values taken by the addressing information contained in the service information fields of the two first levels of protocols, while the second upper level directory comprises for elements the addressing information contained in the service information fields of the protocol levels greater than the second level. The elements from the first and second directories are connected by compatibility links which indicate which elements can be found simultaneously in the service information fields of one packet of interest to the equipment (1, 2).
L'invention concerne la sélection et le tri, par un équipement(1, 2) ayant accès à un ou plusieurs réseaux de transmission par paquets (3, 4), des paquets le concernant, parmi l'ensemble des paquets mis à sa disposition par les réseaux, sachant que les paquets respectent au moins deux couches de protocoles sinon plus. Elle consiste en un procédé de sélection et de tri mettant en oeuvre successivement, pour des recherches de concordance d'adresses, deux annuaires d'adresses, le premier dit de niveaux inférieurs ayant pour éléments les différentes combinaisons possibles des valeurs prises par les informations d'adressage contenues dans les champs d'informations de service des deux premiers niveaux de protocoles, le deuxieme dit de niveaux supérieurs ayant pour éléments les informations d'adressage contenues dans les champs d'informations de service des protocoles de niveaux supérieurs à deux, les éléments des premier et deuxième annuaires étant liés par des liens de compatibilité ciblant ceux qui peuvent se retrouver simultanément dans les champs d'informations de service d'un paquet intéressant l'equipement (1, 2).
