A method of shaping polymeric structures by coating a support structure with a bond-preventing agent to attain a particular shape and subsequently coating the shaped structure of the bond-preventing agent with a polymeric bonding composition is provided. Such shaped polymeric structures can have one or more cavities (16) which can be fluid-filled or gel-filled. Also provided is a hand- actuating retention female urinary catheter (5) having an inner tube (12) and an outer overcoat layer (14) encircling the tube with an elastomeric collar (50) with a shroud (51). A cavity (16) containing a fluid (18) is interposed between the tube (12) and the overcoat layer (14). The cavity includes a balloon portion (24) and a reservoir portion (22). The shroud (51) encircles the reservoir section (22) to inhibit the ballooning of the reservoir section when the reservoir section is squeezed to force fluid (18) from the reservoir portion (22) to the balloon portion (24) through the sleeve portion (34) of the cavity. The overcoat layer (14) and the collar (50) with a shroud (51) are made of soft resilient material.
Procédé de façonnage de structures polymères par revêtement d'une structure de support avec un agent anti-adhésif, afin d'obtenir une forme déterminée et par revêtement de la structure façonnée, constituée par l'agent anti-adhésif, avec une composition adhésive polymère. Ces structures polymères peuvent présenter une ou plusieurs cavités (16) pouvant être remplies par un liquide ou par un gel. L'invention concerne également un cathéter manuel de rétention urinaire féminin (5) possédant un tube intérieur (12) et une couche supérieure extérieure (14) entourant ledit tube et comportant un collier élastomère (50) pourvu d'une enveloppe de protection (51). Une cavité (16) contenant un liquide (18) est intercalée entre le tube (12) et la couche supérieure (14). Cette cavité comprend une partie ballonnet (24) et une partie réservoir (22). L'enveloppe de protection (51) entoure la partie réservoir (22), afin d'empêcher le ballonnement de ladite partie, quand la partie réservoir est comprimée afin d'expulser le liquide (18) depuis ladite partie (22) vers la partie ballonnet (24) à travers la partie manchon (34) de la cavité. La couche supérieure (14) et le collier (50) pourvu de l'enveloppe de protection (51) sont fabriqués en matériau mou et élastique.
