ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a process for solidifying molten materials by pouring onto a substrate and cooling, silicone fluids or kerosene are incorporated in the solidifying melt to promote the formation of amorphous material and provide increased hardness on aging. Undesired cryst- allinity is also avoided by first forming a solidified skin on the melt surface by carefully controlled air cooling or dusting with powdered material before more vigorous cooling by air or water directed against the solidified skin. When using an endless belt as substrate, the plain surface may be modified by superposing a skeleton framework to form tablet orbar moulds. The process is particularly applied to the solidification of molten sulphur. - 1 -
