- 1 - Abstract: A method of solidifying radioactive waste to provide a solidified body embeds solid waste of a predetermined shape in a solidifying material that has a modulus of elasticity that is equal to, or smaller than, the modulus of elasticity of the waste. The module of elasticity are thus adjusted to prevent stress concentrations at the boundaries between the solidifying material and the waste. The invention makes it possible to prepare a solidified body with the desired durability and safety factor.
