ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE METHOD OF STABILIZING AQUEOUS FINE COAL SLURRY AND PRODUCT THEREOF An aqueous fine coal slurry containing 30 to 80 percent fine coal refuse solids by weight is stabilized by intimately admixing the aqueous slurry with a stabilizing additive comprising Portland cement and allowing the admix- ture to set. Preferably the stabilizing additive includes finely divided blast furnace slag. Also it is preferred that sufficient additive be added that the slurry will set to an unconfined compressive strength of at least 18 psi (12 Newtons per cm2) in less than about two days of addition of the additive.
