A method of engine starting in a gas turbine engine (10) comprises rotating the engine (10) to provide an air flow (36) into a combustor (20) of the engine (10) and injecting fuel into the combustor (20) at a varying rate until the engine is lighted-off. The varying rate of the fuel flow is a function of time and is represented by a curve (76) having at least one high frequency with respect to a light-off time, representing instant changes of the rate for intersecting a light-off zone while reducing a quantity of fuel injected into the combustor (20). After the light-off occurrence fuel is continuously injected into the combustor (20) to accelerate the engine (10) to a self- sustaining operation condition. This method of the present invention is adapted to find light-off points under various temperature and altitude conditions, thereby advantageously providing a rapid light-off, particularly under cold weather conditions.
L'invention concerne un démarrage moteur dans une turbine à gaz (10) comprenant la rotation de ladite turbine (10) pour obtenir un courant d'air (36) à l'intérieur d'une chambre à combustion (20) de ladite turbine (10) et l'injection de combustible à l'intérieur de la chambre de combustion (20) à une vitesse variable jusqu'à ce que ladite turbine soit allumée. La vitesse variable du flux de combustible est une fonction dans le temps et est représentée par une courbe (76) présentant au moins une fréquence élevée par rapport à une période d'allumage, représentant des variations instantanées de ladite vitesse pour couper une zone d'allumage tout en réduisant la quantité de combustible injectée à l'intérieur de ladite chambre de combustion (20). Après que l'allumage a été produit, on injecte du combustible en continu à l'intérieur de ladite chambre à combustion (20) pour pousser ladite turbine (10) à des conditions de fonctionnement autosuffisant.
