ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of sterilizing a packaging material involves providing a packaging material comprising a resinous composition that is stabilized against the deteriorative effect of gamma and other ionizing radiation comprises a vinyl halide resin, from 2% to 4% by weight, based on the weight of the vinyl halide resin, of an organotin mercaptoacid ester, and an epoxy compound in the amount of from 3 parts to 5 parts by weight of the epoxy compound per part by weight of the organotin mercaptoacid ester. The mat- erial is subjected to ionizing radiation for a period of time sufficient to substantially sterilize the packaging.
