A method of stopping excessive leakage from sprinkler heads of a liquid piping network. Firstly, providing a backflow inducer housing divided by a flexible diaphragm into a first compartment on a first side of the diaphragm and a second compartment on a second side of the diaphragm. The relative volume of the first compartment and the second compartment change with the positioning of the diaphragm. A spring is provided in the first compartment to bias the diaphragm toward a backflow inducing position in which the volume of the first compartment is larger than the volume of the second compartment. Secondly, connecting a first inlet/outlet of the housing to a liquid piping network. Thirdly, connecting a second inlet/outlet of the housing to a source of pressurized working fluid. The diaphragm is moved by the pressurized working fluid toward an operational position in which the volume of the second compartment is larger than the volume of the first compartment. Fourthly, providing controls to exhaust the second compartment of the backflow inducer housing simultaneously with the termination of spraying. The diaphragm is rapidly moved to the backflow inducing position thereby drawing sufficient liquid from the liquid piping system to prevent excessive leakage of the sprinkler heads.
Méthode permettant d'éliminer les fuites excessives de liquide des têtes d'extincteurs raccordées à une canalisation transportant un liquide. La présente invention comprend premièrement un dispositif de refoulement d'eau dont le corps est divisé par un diaphragme flexible en un premier compartiment situé sur le premier côté du diaphragme et un second compartiment situé sur le deuxième côté du diaphragme. Le volume relatif du premier et du second compartiment varie selon la position du diaphragme. Un ressort dans le premier compartiment pousse le diaphragme en position de refoulement d'eau où le volume du premier compartiment est supérieur à celui du second. Deuxièmement, il faut brancher une première entrée/sortie du corps de la présente invention à une canalisation transportant un liquide. Troisièmement, il faut brancher une deuxième entrée/sortie du corps à une source de fluide de travail sous pression. Le fluide de travail sous pression pousse le diaphragme en position de fonctionnement où le volume du second compartiment est supérieur à celui du premier. Quatrièmement, la présente invention comprend des commandes permettant de vidanger le liquide du second compartiment simultanément avec l'arrêt des têtes d'extincteurs. Le diaphragme est alors rapidement entraîné en position de refoulement d'eau, de sorte qu'il retire suffisament de liquide de la canalisation pour prévenir une fuite excessive de liquide s'écoulant des têtes d'extincteurs.
