ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and system for storing solid chlorinating agents with improved storage performance involves placing the solid chlorinating agent and a storage stabilizer such as calcium oxide, trisodium phosphate, magnesium oxide, ferrous oxide, melamine, ammeline or ammelide in a closed container in a manner such that the stabilizer contacts with the noxious gases generated by the decomposition of the chlorinating agent but does not directly contact the chlorinating agent.
