Optimal resilience to errors in packetized streaming 3-D wireframe animation is achieved by partitioning the stream into layers and applying unequal error correction coding to each layer independently to maintain the same overall bitrate. The unequal error protection scheme for each of the layers combined with error concealment at the receiver achieves graceful degradation of streamed animation at higher packet loss rates than approaches that do not account for subjective parameters such as visual smoothness.

La résilience optimale aux erreurs dans une animation fil de fer 3-D par paquets est réalisée par partition du flux en couches et par application d'un codage de correction d'erreur inégale à chaque couche de façon indépendante afin de maintenir le même débit binaire global. Le schéma de protection par erreur inégale pour chacune des couches combiné au masquage d'erreur au récepteur réalise une dégradation souple de l'animation diffusée à des taux de perte de paquets plus élevés que des approches qui ne prennent pas en compte des paramètres subjectifs tels que le lissé visuel.
