Abstract of the Disclosure Method of strengthening an unbonded non-woven fibre material of natural and/or synthetic filaments with a UV-hardenable binding agent. The material is first compacted, smoothed and heated without cementing of the fibres in a calender, before being imprinted with the prepolymeric binding agent. During processing the binding agent has a viscosity of 500 to 5000 m Pa/sec, and it is hardened by irradiation of the surface of the imprinted fibre material with ultraviolet light. Production line speeds of more than 50 m/min are attainable.
