PRK-132 METHOD OF STRIPPING PAINT IN A MOLTEN SALT BATH Abstract Paint-coated metal objects which are sen- sitive to distortion and/or oxidation are immersed in a molten salt bath at temperatures below 550° F. for a time sufficient to remove paint from the ob- jects. The stripped parts are then removed, drained and rinsed in an aqueous rinse. The bath which is a low temperature, low melting point bath, contains at least two components, in weight percent: a) about 10-100% of alkali and/or alkaline earth caustic com- pounds and b) 0 to about 90% of oxidizing agent (alkali and alkaline earth metal nitrate and/or nitrite).
