Abstract A method of suspension polymerization of a monomer or monomer mixture to control average particle size and size distribution utilizing in-line static mixing as the means of forming an aqueous suspension of monomer droplets in water prior to thermal polymerization thereof. The method is particularly adaptable to suspension polymerization of ion exchange polymer beads of relatively small size and narrow size distribution in conventional aqueous suspension media. A preferred apparatus utilizes an in-line mixer having a plurality of adjacent corrugated stationary baffle elements and concentric inlet orifices for monomer and aqueous dis- persion media abutting the first baffle element of the mixer.
