F-6219(6220, 6221) A METHOD OF SYNTHESIZING ZEOLITE BETA ABSTRACT A large crystal zeolite Beta having a broad range of silica-to-alumina ratios, i.e. 20-1000, is synthesized with a chelating agent in the form of a tertiary alkanolamine such as triethanolamine in the synthesis mixture along with an organic directing agent such as tetraethylammonium hydroxide, tetraethyl- ammonium bromide and tetraethylammonium fluoride. The resultant highly siliceous zeolite Beta is useful as a cracking catalyst particularly when treated with a phosphorus compound.
