Abstract The present invention relates to u method of testing the loading capacity of cores and is especially suitable for testing cores used in the paper industry which are made of board by glueing and reeling. Hitherto it has not been possible by means of known methods to simulate the real stresses occurring in use of B core. Therefore, even the best results have been incomplete and unreliable giving only an outline of the real loading capacity of the core. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the core (9) is rotated on the chuck (8) is loaded with a roll (11), the stress force of which against the surface of the core is completely adjustable. The changes in the structure of the core during the testing are registered e.g. by an optical source of a light and sensor arrangement (15, 20), which gives a signal according to which the temporary stress force and rotational speed are registered.
