A method for smoothing the torque characteristics of a multi-phase PM synchronous machine by controlled driving with a conventional voltage source inverter operated in accordance with a predetermined switching sequence wherein the sum of the excitation voltages applied to the incoming phase winding and outgoing phase winding are maintained constant at a predetermined value for the duration of each commutation period. In addition, the individual excitation voltages applied to the remaining phase active windings are also held constant during the commutation period.

Ce procédé régularise les caractéristiques du couple fourni par une machine synchrone à plusieurs phases et à aimant permanent en commandant l'entraînement moteur au moyen d'un inverseur classique de source de tension en fonction d'une séquence préétablie de commutation. La somme des tensions d'excitation appliquées à l'enroulement de la phase arrivant et à l'enroulement de la phase sortant est maintenue constante à une valeur préétablie pour la durée de chaque période de commutation. Chacune des tensions d'excitation appliquées aux autres enroulements de phase actifs est également maintenue constante pendant la période de commutation.
