12 ABSTRACT An image is transferred onto the surface of wood by generating the image and printing it on a transfer sheet using a laser printer or a laser color copier. Laser printers and copiers print using inks that melt in a certain temperature range. The printed image can be transferred to the surface of a piece of wood by bringing the transfer sheet in contact with the surface and applying heat and pressure. Preferably, there is a layer of water on the surface prior to contacting the sheet on it. Heat in the range of 150°C to 190°C and pressure in the range of 40 to 200 pounds per square inch is applied for 1 to 4 seconds.
