ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In order, during data reduction of an already data-reduced audio signal, or during the first data reduction of an audio signal, to reduce interference effects, making allowance for code violations, the invention proposes that, in the event of a code overload, a code is selected which gives the optimum interference distribution as regards reproduction quality. The time behaviour and/or spectral distribution of the audio signal can be modified, in particular before encoding, in accordance with a selected adjustment model, without any significant signal deterioration being subjectively perceivable by the listener after decoding.

Afin de réduire l'effet des parasites lors de la réduction des données d'un signal audio dont les données sont déjà réduites ou bien lors d'une toute première réduction des données d'un signal audio, en tenant compte des violations de code, il est suggéré, en cas de surcharge de codes, de sélectionner un code permettant d'obtenir la meilleure répartition de l'effet des parasites quant à la qualité de restitution. Le signal audio peut être modifié notamment avant le codage dans son comportement dans le temps et/ou dans sa répartition spectrale, selon un modèle d'adaptation choisi, sans altérer pour autant de manière subjectivement perceptible le signal après décodage.
