The present invention relates to a method of heat treatment of a solid piece of wood, such as sawn timber. According to the method, the temperature difference between the inside temperature of the heating oven and, correspondingly, the inside temperature of the wood is maintained at a maximum of 10~ C, after the level of moisture content of the piece of wood has reached the fibre saturation point of the wood. A small temperature difference such as this is maintained when the temperature is further increased until a level of moisture content is reached at which the strength properties of the piece of wood are at their best. By means of the solution it is possible to considerably reduce the formation of internal cracks in heat treated wood.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement thermique d~une pièce solide de bois, comme du sciage. Selon le procédé, la différence de température entre la température intérieure du four de chauffe et, de ce fait, la température intérieure du bois est conservée à un maximum de 10° C, après que le niveau d~humidité de la pièce de bois a atteint le point de saturation des fibres du bois. Une petite différence de température telle que celle-ci est conservée quand la température est encore augmentée jusqu~à ce qu~un niveau de teneur en humidité soit atteint, niveau auquel les propriétés de résistance de la pièce de bois sont les meilleures. Au moyen de la solution, il est possible de réduire considérablement la formation de fissures internes dans le bois traité à chaud.
