The invention relates to a method of treating ammonia-comprising waste water in which the bicarbonate ion is the counter ion of the ammonium ion present in the waste water. According to the invention half the ammonium is converted into nitrite, yielding an ammonia and nitrite-containing solution, and in the second step the nitrite is used as oxidant for the ammonia. In the method according to the invention the conversion of half the ammonia into nitrite occurs automatically, providing a method which requires fewer controls. Also, the method according to the invention requires no external additive.
L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'eaux résiduelles contenant de l'ammoniaque, dans lequel l'ion bicarbonate est le contre-ion de l'ion ammonium présent dans ces eaux. Selon l'invention, on convertit la moitié de l'ammonium en nitrite, produisant ainsi une solution contenant de l'ammoniaque et du nitrite, et dans la seconde étape, on utilise le nitrite en tant qu'oxydant de l'ammoniaque. Dans le procédé de l'invention, la conversion de la moitié de l'ammoniaque en nitrite se produit automatiquement. On offre ainsi un procédé requérant moins d'opérations de régulation. De même, le procédé de l'invention ne nécessite aucun additif extérieur.
