This invention provides a method for treating a physiological disorder associated with .beta.-amyloid peptide in a mammal which comprises administering to a mammal in need thereof an effective amount of thyrotropin releasing hormone, an analog of thyrotropin releasing hormone, or a salt or prodrug of thyrotropin releasing hormone or said analog.
