The invention relates to a method of treating functional bowel disorders in a subject in need of treatment. The method comprises administering to a subject in need of treatment a therapeutically effective amount of a compound that has 5-HT3 receptor antagonist activity and NorAdrenaline Reuptake Inhibitor (NARI) activity. The invention further relates to a method of treating a functional bowel disorder in a subject in need thereof, comprising coadministering to said subject a first amount of a 5-HT3antagonist and a second amount of a NARI, wherein the first and second amounts together comprise a therapeutically effective amount or are each present in a therapeutically effective amount. In addition, the method of the invention comprises administering a NARI alone. The functional bowel disorders which can be treated according to the method of the invention include IBS, functional abdominal bloating, functional constipation and functional diarrhea.
L'invention concerne une méthode de traitement de troubles intestinaux fonctionnels chez un sujet nécessitant un tel traitement. La méthode consiste à administrer à un sujet nécessitant ce traitement une dose thérapeutique efficace d'un composé présentant une activité antagoniste du récepteur 5-HT¿3? et une activité d'inhibiteur de recaptage de NorAdrénaline (NARI). L'invention concerne également une méthode de traitement d'un trouble intestinal fonctionnel chez un sujet nécessitant ce traitement, consistant à coadministrer audit sujet une première dose d'un antagoniste du 5-HT¿3 ?et une seconde dose d'un NARI, les première et seconde doses forment ensemble une dose thérapeutique efficace ou sont chacune présentent en une dose thérapeutique efficace. De plus, la méthode de l'invention consiste à administrer un NARI seul. Les troubles intestinaux fonctionnels pouvant être traités selon la méthode de l'invention comprennent le syndrome du colon irritable, le ballonnement abdominal fonctionnel, la constipation fonctionnelle et la diarrhée fonctionnelle.
