The present invention is concerned with prevention and/or treatment of heart failure or ventricular dysfunction with compounds that are endothelin antagonists of the formula (see above formula) wherein Ar1 and Ar2 are an optionally substituted aromatic or heteroaromatic ring; R1, R2 and R3 are H, -OH or alkyl or R1 and R2 or R2 and R3 together form a single bond; Y is -CO-R4 (wherein R4 is -OH, -NH2, alkoxy, mono- or di-alkylamino, alkylsulfonylamino, arylsulfonylamino or arylalkylsulfonylamino), SO3H, PO3H2, tetrazolyl, 2-oxo-3H-1,2,3,5-oxathiadiazolyl or 5-oxo-4H-1,2,4-oxadiazolyl; and A forms together with the adjacent carbon-carbon double bond a 5- or 6-membered optionally substituted heteroaromatic ring.
