A method for treating a tobacco extract, which comprises contacting an extract obtained by extracting a natural tobacco material with an aqueous extraction solvent, with a polymer having a functional group capable of capturing metals including at least magnesium in the side chain thereof, to thereby prepare an extract being reduced at least in a magnesium content.

La présente invention a pour objet une méthode de traitement d'extraits de tabac. Ladite méthode comprend une étape consistant en la mise en contact de tabac naturel avec un solvant d'extraction aqueux et avec un polymère. Ledit polymère possède un groupement fonctionnel sur sa chaîne latérale capable de capturer des métaux, ces métaux incluant au moins le magnésium. Le but de ladite méthode est l'obtention d'un extrait appauvri, au moins en magnésium.
