A method of using pressurized water or other liquid to maintain the shape of products as they leave an extruder before the product has fully cooled. By attaching a pressurized vessel to the output end of an extruder and extruding a predetermined shape directly into a pressurized liquid and adjusting the pressure as required the shape of the extruder output will remain constant until cooled. This procedure will serve to cool the extruder output and eliminate mechanical means of maintaining the shape of the extruder output while the product is cooling,
