Provided herewith is a method for preparing an explosive composition with an adjusted race of detona- tion which matches the rock stratum in which basting is to occur. The composition is comprised of a mixture of glass microballoons and plastic spheres, which mixture has been found to provide one with adjustable rates of detonation with essentially no significant difference in the carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and water con- tents or ratios and at the same time with the same overall energy. Also provided is a method of determining the relative sensitivity of an explosive employing an appara- tus with a baseplate (10), lead cylinder (11), driver plate (12), a cartridge filled with the explosive (14), detona- tion cap (15), cable (16), wooden dowel (17).
L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de préparation d'une composition explosive présentant une vitesse de détonation ajustée qui correspond aux strates de la roche dans laquelle l'explosion doit se produire. La composition se compose d'un mélange de microsphères de verre et de sphères en matière plastique. Il a été démontré que ce mélange produit des vitesses de détonation réglables sans entraîner de différence notable dans la teneur en carbone, hydrogène, oxygène, azote et en eau, ni dans les rapports entre ces éléments tout en présentant le même niveau global d'énergie. L'invention se rapporte également à un procédé permettant de déterminer la sensibilité relative d'une matière explosive à l'aide d'un appareil comprenant une plaque d'appui (10), un cylindre de plomb (11), une plaque d'entraînement (12), une cartouche remplie de la matière explosive (14), une amorce (15), un câble (16) et une cheville en bois (17).
