A method of treating wood to provide anti-stain and anti-decay waterproofing properties includes applying to the wood a water solution having about 1.3 to 2.75 weight percent of a quaternary ammonium compound, about 1 to 2 weight percent of a hydrated starch solution, about 2.5 to 5.0 weight percent of a slack wax water emulsion and about 90 to 95 weight percent water. The solution may be created by establishing a first mixture of hydrated starch solution, slack wax emulsion and water and subsequently admixing the quaternary ammonium compound with a first mixture. Preferred solid concentrations of the emulsions are provided. A wood waterproofing composition contains about 1.3 to 2.75 weight percent of a quaternary ammonium compound, about 1 to 2 weight percent of a hydrated starch solution, about 2.5 to 5.0 weight percent of a slack wax emulsion and about 93 to 97.5 weight percent water. The waterproofing composition concentrate, prior to admixture with the quaternary ammonium compound, contains the hydrated starch solution and slack wax emulsion. An adhesion promoter, such as an acrylic polymer, may be employed. Other additives may be employed.
Procédé de traitement du bois utilisé pour conférer à ce dernier des propriétés imperméabilisantes anti-taches et anti-pourrissement. Ledit procédé consiste à appliquer sur le bois une solution aqueuse comprenant environ 1,3 à 2,75 % en poids d'un composé d'ammonium quarternaire, environ 1 à 2 % en poids d'une solution d'amidon hydratée, environ 2,5 à 5,0 % en poids d'une émulsion d'eau et de paraffine brute non déshuilée et environ 90 à 95 % en poids d'eau. On peut produire la solution en préparant d'abord un premier mélange d'une solution d'amidon hydraté, d'une émulsion de paraffine non déshuilée et d'eau, et en ajoutant ultérieurement le composé d'ammonium quaternaire dans le premier mélange. Les concentrations solides préférées pour l'émulsion sont présentées. Une composition d'imperméabilisation du bois contient environ 1,3 à 2,75 % en poids d'un composé d'ammonium quaternaire, environ 1 à 2 % en poids d'une solution d'amidon hydratée, environ 2,5 à 5,0 % en poids d'une émulsion de paraffine non déshuilée, et environ 93 à 97,5 % en poids d'eau. Avant qu'elle soit mélangée avec le composé d'ammonium quaternaire, la composition d'imperméabilisation concentrée contient la solution d'amidon hydraté et l'émulsion de paraffine non déshuilée.
