A simple and inexpensive method of wetting a cement or gypsum-bonded fibrous mixture of building materials using water is characterised in that the water is added to the mixture of building materials at least partially in the form of a foam containing at least one surfactant and at least one foam stabiliser, or while in contact with the mixture of building materials, is while in the form of a surfactant and at least a foam stabiliser, at least partially transformed to foam and in that the water is added to the mixture of building materials in such a quantity that when the mixture is wet, it is powdery-crumbly.
