A process to increase the whiteness of a lignin-containing pulp is disclosed which comprises adding to an aqueous slurry comprising a lignin-containing pulp, during pulp manufacture, a fluorescent whitening agent and optionally a chelating agent.

Cette invention concerne un procédé destiné à aviver la blancheur des pâtes renfermant de la lignine par ajout à une suspension aqueuse renfermant de la lignine, en cours de fabrication de la pâte à papier, d'un agent de blanchiment fluorescent et, facultativement, d'un chélateur.
