According to embodiments of the present invention a method, system and apparatus for controlling the establishment of a data connection from an originating data device is disclosed. A computing apparatus, such as a server, receives a request from an originating data device, such as a fax machine, to establish a data connection with a destination data device, such as a second fax machine. The request may comprise an identifier associated with the destination data device and may include an authorization code. The server determines if the request is authorized based upon at least one of the destination identifier and the authorization code, and triggers a connection between the originating and destination data devices if authorized. The destination identifier may be the phone number or IP address of a destination data device. The authorization code may be a numeric code which will allow a user to establish a data connection between the originating data device and a nominally restricted data device.
L'invention concerne, selon certains modes de réalisation, un procédé, un système et un appareil permettant de commander l'établissement d'une connexion de données à partir d'un dispositif de données source. Un appareil de calcul, par exemple un serveur, reçoit une demande en provenance d'un dispositif de données source, par exemple un télécopieur, pour l'établissement d'une connexion de données avec un dispositif de données cible, par exemple un deuxième télécopieur. La demande peut comprendre un identifiant associé au dispositif de données cible ainsi qu'un code d'autorisation. Le serveur détermine si la demande est autorisée en fonction de l'identifiant cible et/ou du code d'autorisation, et déclenche une connexion entre les dispositifs de données source et cible si l'autorisation est accordée. L'identifiant cible peut être le numéro de téléphone ou l'adresse IP d'un dispositif de données cible. Le code d'autorisation peut être un code numérique conçu pour permettre à l'utilisateur d'établir une connexion de données entre le dispositif de données cible et un dispositif de données soumis à des restrictions nominales.
