Methods are provided for decreasing aldehyde content in polyolefin materials comprising combining with the polyolefin material an organic additive compound which reacts with aldehydes to form water and a resulting organic compound. The organic additive compound comprises at least two hydrogen-substituted heteroatoms bonded to carbons of the organic additive compound such that the organic additive compound is reactive with aldehydes present in the polyolefin to form water and the resulting organic compound, which comprises an unbridged five- or six-member ring including at least two heteroatoms. The resulting organic compound advantageously neither imparts an off-taste to food and beverage products in contact with the polyolefin nor discolors the polyolefin. Preferred polyolefins include polypropylene and polyethylene.
Cette invention concerne des procédés servant à réduire la teneur en aldéhyde de matériaux en polyoléfine, et consistant à associer le matériau en polyoléfine à un composant d'addition organique qui réagit avec des aldéhydes afin de former de l'eau et un composé organique. Le composé d'addition organique comprend au moins deux hétéroatomes substitués à l'hydrogène liés à des carbones du composé d'addition organique de sorte que le composé d'addition organique réagisse avec les aldéhydes présents dans la polyoléfine pour former de l'eau et le composé organique, qui comprend un cycle à cinq ou six éléments non ponté comportant au moins deux hétéroatomes. Le composé organique obtenu présente l'avantage de ne pas conférer de mauvais goût aux produits alimentaires ou aux boissons entrant en contact avec la polyoléfine, et de ne pas décolorer la polyoléfine. Les polyoléfines renferment de préférence du polypropylène et du polyéthylène.
