This invention relates to an improved method for the production of a pour-in- place composite article. These composite articles composite an exterior covering (2) and a flexible polyurethane foam core. This method comprises inserting a support armature (4) into a pre-sewn exterior covering (2), positioning an exterior covering in a shaped mold (1), and applying pressurized gas to the outside surface of the exterior covering at the point directly opposite the position that the reaction mixture will be injected into the mold through air inlet (10). The pressurized gas is either applied to the outside surface of the exterior covering either at some point prior to injection of the reaction mixture into the shaped mold, or the pressurized gas is applied simultaneously with the injection of the reaction mixture into the shaped mold. The application of pressurized gas is discontinued once the injection step is completed, allowing the reaction mixture to fully react and expand to conform the composite article to the shape of the mold. The resultant composite article is then removed from the mold.

L'invention concerne un procédé amélioré de production d'un article composite de coulage. Ces articles composites comprennent un revêtement extérieur et un noyau de mousse polyuréthane flexible. Ce procédé consiste à introduire une armature support dans un revêtement extérieur pré-cousu, à placer un revêtement extérieur dans un moule formé et à appliquer un gaz pressurisé à la surface extérieure du revêtement extérieur précisément face à l'emplacement où le mélange de réaction doit être injecté dans le moule. Le gaz pressurisé est appliqué à la surface extérieure du revêtement extérieur juste avant l'injection du mélange de réaction dans le moule formé ou simultanément. L'application de gaz pressurisé est interrompue une fois que l'injection est achevée, ce qui permet au mélange de réaction de réagir pleinement et de se dilater pour que l'article composite épouse la forme du moule. L'article composite ainsi obtenu est ensuite retiré du moule.
