A therapeutic or prophylactic treatment method of acute myocardial infarction, comprising administering exogenous C1-esterase inhibitor, alone or in combination with other drugs, to a patient with acute myocardial infarction or to a patient at risk for acute myocardial infarction. The treatment inhibits the inflammatory reaction, more specifically the activation of the complement system, which occurs in the course of acute myocardial infarction. The C1-esterase inhibitor may include C1-esterase inhibitor purified from plasma or other biological materials, or recombinant C1-esterase inhibitor or recombinant variants derived therefrom, or recombinant constructs of other inhibitors having a specificity similar to C1-esterase inhibitor.

Procédé de traitement à des fins prophylactiques ou thérapeutiques d'infarctus du myocarde aigus, consistant à administrer un inhibiteur de C1-estérase exogène, seul ou en combinaison avec d'autres médicaments, à un patient souffrant d'un infarctus du myocarde aigu ou à un patient présentant un risque d'infarctus du myocarde aigu. Ce traitement permet d'inhiber la réaction inflammatoire, plus particulièrement l'activation du système complémentaire qui a lieu au cours de ce type d'infarctus aigu. L'inhibiteur de C1-estérase peut comprendre un inhibiteur de C1-estérase purifié à partir du plasma ou d'autres substances biologiques, ou un inhibiteur de C1-estérase recombinant, ou des variants recombinants dérivés de ce dernier, ou encore des produits de recombinaison d'autres inhibiteurs dont la spécificité est analogue à celle de l'inhibiteur de C1-estérase.
