ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of generating chlorine dioxide that comprises forming chloric acid by the action of sulphuric acid on a chlorate in a generator in the liquid phase. The chloric acid is reduced to produce chlorine dioxide. The chlorate is fed to the generator as a solid.
