A method is used to increase the energy content of a pipeline and other vessels that are designed to carry natural gas under ambient conditions, in a compressed state or in a liquefied state. Methane and other gas are used as the feedstock. Methane from natural gas fields, coal beds or derived from hydrogen reacting with coal are primary energy sources for this method. Also, this method could provide an abundant source for hydrogen production. Energy from hydrogen is used for fuel cell applications that generate electricity and power motor vehicles. This method is capable to increase the energy capacity of current natural gas pipelines and other storage and transport vessels.
La présente invention a trait à un procédé permettant d'accroître la capacité en énergie d'une canalisation ou autres types de transport destinés au transport de gaz naturel dans des conditions ambiantes, en un état comprimé ou en un état liquéfié. Du méthane ou d'autres gaz sont utilisés comme charge. De méthane en provenance de champs de gaz, de couches de houille ou dérivé d'une réaction de l'hydrogène avec de la houille constituent des sources d'énergie primaires dans le cadre de ce procédé. Ce procédé pourrait également fournir une source abondante pour la production d'hydrogène. L'énergie dérivée de l'hydrogène est utilisée pour des applications de cellules à combustible qui génèrent de l'électricité et alimentent des véhicules automobiles. Ce procédé est capable d'accroître la capacité en énergie des canalisations de gaz naturel existants et d'autres types de stockage et de transport.
