A method of coating the welded seam of a metal tube (20) comprising heating the weld area only of the metal tube to a first temperature which is less than the melting temperature of a protective metal coating, applying the protective metal coating over the seam and heating the entire tube, preferably with a full body induction coil (78), to a second temperature which is at least equal to the difference between the first temperature and the melting temperature of the metal coating, such that the temperature of the seam area is heated to a temperature equal to or greater than the melting temperature of the metal coating, whereby the metal coating firmly adheres to the welded seam. In applying a coating over the exterior surface of the seam, the coating is preferably applied by thermally spraying (70) molten metal coating material over the seam.
On décrit un procédé de revêtement d'une soudure de tube métallique (20). Le procédé consiste à ne chauffer que la zone de soudure du tube métallique à une première température inférieure à la température de fusion d'un revêtement métallique de protection, à appliquer le revêtement métallique de protection sur la soudure avant de chauffer l'ensemble du tube, de préférence avec une bobine d'induction intégrale (78), à une deuxième température au moins égale à la différence entre la première température et la température de fusion du revêtement métallique, de sorte que la température à laquelle la zone de soudure est chauffée soit au moins égale à la température de fusion du revêtement métallique, ce qui permet à ce dernier d'adhérer fermement à la soudure. L'application du revêtement sur la surface extérieure de la soudure s'effectue, de préférence, par pulvérisation thermique (70) d'un matériau de revêtement métallique fondu sur la soudure.
