The present invention provides methods and apparatus for expanding a first, smaller diameter tubular into frictional contact with a second, larger diameter tubular or wellbore. In an embodiment, annular formations formed on an inner surface of a split ring (120) engage an outer surface of the smaller tubular. In one aspect, the smaller diameter tubular is provided with an annular recess there around, the annular recess including recessed grooves formed there around. Therefore, the split ring is disposable within the annular recess and the annular formations formed on the split ring are constructed and arranged to fit within the recessed grooves of the annular recess of the tubular. An outer surface of the split ring is provided with teeth (130) or some other grip-enhancing material or formation. The split ring also includes a split portion (140) permitting the ring to expand in diameter as that portion of the tubular is expanded in diameter.
La présente invention concerne des procédés et des dispositifs permettant d'élargir une première tige de forage de diamètre inférieur pour la mettre en contact de frottement avec une seconde tige de forage de diamètre supérieur ou un trou de forage. Dans un mode de réalisation, la surface extérieure de la tige de forage de diamètre inférieur est conçue pour entrer en prise avec des formations annulaires situées sur la surface intérieure d'une bague à fente (120). Dans un aspect de l'invention, la surface extérieure de la tige de forage de diamètre inférieur est pourvue d'une espace annulaire comportant des rainures. Ainsi, la bague à fente peut être disposée sur la surface extérieure de la tige de forage de diamètre inférieur de façon que les formations annulaires situées sur la bague à fente entrent en prise avec les rainures de l'espace annulaire de la tige de forage de diamètre inférieur. La surface extérieure de la bague à fente comporte des nervures (130) ou tout autre type de matériau augmentant la prise. La bague à fente comprend également une fente (140) qui lui permet de s'élargir en même temps que la tige de forage de diamètre inférieur s'élargit.
