Preforms for producing annular parts of composite material are produced by winding a strip (1) of fibrous material around an elliptical mandrel (10) to produce an elliptical sleeve which can be cut obliquely, cutting taking place either before or after one or more densification steps. The cutting plane is inclined relative to the right cross section of the elliptical sleeve, and the inner and outer portions of the cut rings are machined to obtain circular elements. Such elements can produce annular parts of composite material having a reduced tendency to delamination under circumferential stress. The superposed layers are needling together during winding. A uniform needling density per unit area can be obtained by controlled displacement of the needle board (5) and of the elliptical mandrel (10) relative to each other as the mandrel turns, to compensate for the eccentricity of the cross section of the mandrel. These methods are particularly suitable for producing brake disk preforms.
Pour produire des préformes pour la fabrication des pièces annulaires en matériau composite, une bande (1) de matériau fibreux est bobinée autour d'un mandrin (10) elliptique afin de produire un manchon elliptique destiné à être découpé obliquement, la découpe ayant lieu soit avant soit après une ou plusieurs étapes de densification. Le plan de découpe est incliné par rapport à une coupe droite du manchon elliptique, et les parties intérieures et extérieures des anneaux découpés sont usinées afin d'obtenir des éléments circulaires. De tels éléments permettent d'obtenir des pièces annulaires en matériau composite ayant une tendance réduite au délaminage sous contraintes circonférentielles. Les couches superposées sont aiguilletées pendant le bobinage. Une densité surfacique d'aiguilletage uniforme peut être obtenue en déplaçant de façon contrôlée la planche à aiguilles (5) et le mandrin (10) elliptique par rapport l'un à l'autre, tandis que le mandrin tourne, afin de compenser l'excentricité de la section du mandrin. Ces procédés s'avèrent particulièrement utiles pour la fabrication de préformes de disques de freins.
