A manifold array topology includes processing elements, nodes, memories or the like arranged in clusters (52). Clusters are connected by cluster switch arrangements (986A) which advantageously allow changes of organization without physical rearrangement of processing elements. A significant reduction in the typical number of interconnections for preexisting arrays is also achieved. Fast, efficient and cost effective processing and communication result with the added benefit of ready scalability.

L'invention concerne une topologie de traitement matriciel multiple comprenant notamment des éléments de traitement, des noeuds de traitement ou des mémoires de travail répartis en groupes (52). Les groupes sont reliés entre eux par des commutateurs de groupes (986A) permettant avantageusement de changer d'organisation, sans réagencement physique des éléments de traitement. On arrive ainsi à réduire considérablement le nombre habituel d'interconnexions pour les matrices préexistantes. Un traitement et une communication rapides, efficaces et économiques aboutissent à une augmentation des disponibilités de réaménagement de la configuration.
