The present invention relates generally to methods and apparatus for optical wireless communication, and in particular to wireless optical delivery of a video signal. In one embodiment, a wireless optical video system (100) in which video content (e.g. , DVI or HDMI) is transmitted wirelessly between a digital video source (110) and a display device (150). This wireless optical communication is accomplished using a laser (520), encoded with the digital video data, directed from an optical transmitter (120) to an optical receiver (140). In another embodiment, the data to be communicated includes high- definition video content.

L'invention concerne des procédés et un appareil de communication sans fil optique. Dans un mode de réalisation, un système vidéo optique sans fil dans lequel un contenu vidéo (par exemple DVI ou HDMI) est échangé sans fil entre une source vidéo numérique et un afficheur, la communication optique sans fil est réalisée à l'aide d'un laser, codée avec les données vidéo numériques, dirigée d'un émetteur optique vers un récepteur optique.
