Methods and apparatus (100) are set forth for preparing and delivering bone cement from a powdered polymer component and a liquid monomer component by simultaneously injecting the powdered and liquid components, stored in separate component chambers (102, 103) into an evacuated mixing chamber (123) under the effect of the vacuum; by uniformly mixing the components in the mixing chamber (123) (to thoroughly wet the powder); and by delivering the cement formed by the polymerization process, as needed in an operative setting, utilizing a single ready to use device. The uniform mix is achieved by simultaneously subjecting the contents of the component chambers (102, 103) to the effects of the mixing chamber's (123) vacuum via separate one way nozzles (114, 115) interconnecting the component chambers (102, 103) to the mixing chamber (123), which cause the powder to be broadcast and liquid to be sprayed into the mixing chamber (123). The nozzles (114, 115) are designed and oriented in a predetermined manner (depending on the typed and quantity of the constituent bone cement component being mixed), to cause the components to interact at a preselected distance within the mixing chamber (123), to assure uniform powder saturation and a thorough mix which yields a homogeneous reaction product.

Procédés et appareil (100) destinés à la préparation et à la distribution de ciment osseux, à partir d'un constituant polymère en poudre et d'un constituant monomère liquide, le procédé consistant à injecter simultanément, sous l'effet d'un vide, les constituants en poudre et liquide, qui sont stockés dans des chambres séparées (102, 103), dans une chambre de mélange sous vide (123); à mélanger uniformément les constituants dans la chambre de mélange (123) (afin d'humidifier entièrement la poudre); et à distribuer le ciment formé par le procédé de polymérisation, comme requis dans un environnement opératoire, au moyen d'un seul dispositif prêt à l'emploi. On obtient un mélange homogène en soumettant simultanément le contenu des chambres (102, 103) aux effets du vide produit dans la chambre de mélange (123) par l'intermédiaire de buses unidirectionnelles séparées (114, 115) reliant réciproquement les chambres (102, 103) à la chambre de mélange (123), ce qui permet de diffuser la poudre et de pulvériser le liquide dans la chambre de mélange (123). Les buses (114, 115) sont conçues et orientées de façon prédéterminée (en fonction du type et de la quantité des constituants de ciment osseux mélangés), afin de produire l'interaction des constituants à une distance présélectionné dans la chambre de mélange (123) et afin d'assurer la saturation uniforme de la poudre et un mélange minutieux permettant d'obtenir un produit de réaction homogène.
