Methods and apparatus are described for providing access to a network via a first one of a plurality of network access nodes in the network. The network access nodes each have a network address associated therewith which is unique on the network, the first network access node having a first network address associated therewith (710). The first network address is associated with a first computer while the first computer is connected to the first network access node thereby providing access to the network. Transmissions associated with the first computer are monitored to determine address information (712). The transmissions are then processed (714) in response to the address information.
La présente invention concerne des procédés et un appareil permettant l'accès à un réseau via un premier d'une pluralité de noeuds d'accès au réseau dans le réseau. Les noeuds d'accès au réseau présentent chacun une adresse de réseau qui lui est associée et qui est unique sur le réseau, le premier noeud d'accès au réseau ayant une première adresse qui lui est associée (710). La première adresse de réseau est associée à un premier ordinateur tandis que le premier ordinateur est relié à un premier noeud d'accès au réseau permettant ainsi l'accès au réseau. Les transmissions associées au premier ordinateur sont contrôlées afin de déterminer l'information d'adresse (712). Les transmissions sont ensuite traitées (714) en fonction de l'information d'adresse.
