This invention features methods and apparatus for producing syngas from any carbon-containing feed material. In some embodiments, a substoichiometric amount of oxygen is used to enhance the formation of syngas. In various embodiments, both oxygen and steam are added during the conversion of the feed material into syngas. The syngas can be converted to alcohols, such as ethanol, or to other products.
L'invention concerne des procédés et un appareil pour produire un gaz de synthèse à partir d'un matériau de charge contenant du carbone. Dans certains modes de réalisation, on utilise une quantité d'oxygène substoïchiométrique pour faciliter la formation de gaz de synthèse. Dans des modes de réalisation variés, on ajoute l'oxygène et le flux pendant la conversion du matériau de charge en gaz de synthèse. Ledit gaz de synthèse peut être transformé en alcools, tels que l'éthanol, ou en autres produits.
