A method is disclosed for operating a cellular communications system of a type that comprises a Base Station (30)/Mobile Switching Center (34)/Internetworking function (BMI)(32) and a plurality of mobile stations (10). The method includes the steps of transmitting a point-to-multipoint message (e.g., a Broadcast SMS message) from the BMI to the plurality of mobile stations; and, in at least some of the plurality of mobile stations, receiving the point-to-multipoint message and transmitting an acknowledgement to the BMI using a point-to-point message.
L'invention se rapporte à un procédé d'exploitation d'un système de communications cellulaire d'un type BMI, qui comprend un ensemble station fixe (30)/centre (34) de commutation mobile/fonction (32) interconnexion de réseaux et une pluralité de stations mobiles (10). Ledit procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: émission d'un message point-multipoint (par exemple, un message SMS radiodiffusé) à partir de l'ensemble BMI vers la pluralité de stations mobiles; puis, dans au moins certaines des stations mobiles, réception dudit message point-multipoint et émission d'un accusé de réception en direction de l'ensemble BMI par le biais d'un message point à point.
