A system (100) for performing partial liquid ventilation comprising a patient connector (114) capable of establishing fluid conducting communication with pulmonary air passages of a patient (112), a ventilating circuit sealingly affixed to said patient connector (114) whereby a gas flow path capable of transporting an inspiratory gas into the pulmonary air passages and removing subsequently generated expiratory gases, said ventilating circuit operably associated with a mechanical ventilator (120); a vapor retainer (160) in fluid conducting communication with said gas flow path whereby said inspiratory gas and said expiratory gas alternately pass through said vapor retainer (160); and a liquid or vapor respiraroty promoter dispersed in said gas flow path.
Un système (100) capable d'effectuer la ventilation liquide partielle comprend un raccordement (114) pour le patient qui peut établir la communication conductrice de fluide avec les passages pour l'air des poumons d'un patient (112), un circuit de ventilation attaché hermétiquement au raccordement (114) pour le patient qui permet à une voie d'écoulement de gaz de transporter un gaz d'inspiration dans les passages pour l'air des poumons et d'éliminer ensuite les gaz d'expiration générés, ledit circuit de ventilation étant associé pour fonctionner à un ventilateur mécanique (120); un dispositif (160) de rétention de vapeur qui se trouve en communication conductrice de fluide avec ladite voie d'écoulement de gaz de sorte que lesdits gaz d'inspiration et d'expiration traversent alternativement le dispositif (160) de rétention de vapeur; et un promoteur de la respiration sous forme liquide ou de vapeur dispersé dans ladite voie d'écoulement de gaz.
