A vane assembly (10) includes a vane (14) having a main axis, a first passageway (32) within the vane substantially parallel to the main axis, and a second passageway (34) aligned with the first passageway. The vane has a window portion (20) between the first passageway and the second passageway. The vane assembly also includes a sensor (12) inserted in the first passageway and having a portion (18) held in place in the second passageway, wherein a portion (16) of the sensor is exposed in the window portion of the vane.
